The coat, is based in the fashion ofthe 40's-50's developed arround France and Europe.

 

The 50's were a crucial stage for French haute couture, greatly diminished by the financial collapse of 1929 and also by the war. Paris that decade was once again the word capital of fashion, and was rebirth thanks to names such as Jacques Heim, Chanel, Schiaparelli, Balenciaga, Balmain, Cristian Dior... All contributed given prestige to French fashion, synonym of luxury, elegance and creativity and also commiting to bring ready-to-wear garments.

 

The piece is made by boiled-wool cloth, it is similar to what cape coats of 50’s used to be. The difference is its sleeves, which are a mix between a funnel and traditional kimono sleeve. Its collar is also narrow and symmetrical, ant its opening is similar to a traditional women’s jacket with three buttons. It’s silhouette & line is an oversize trapeze silhouette.
