Mímesis 2012
The mimesis almost completely escapes comparison with the referent, it is reincarnation or conversion into an equivalent of the original. For the same reason, mimesis is a suitable synonym for analogy (despite being diegetic images and loaded with fiction). The mimesis in the history of the special art, was developed with still life. Where the artist shows through the immobility of the model his undeniable ability to duplicate reality.
The nineteenth century was a very confusing moment due to the appearance of photography. It is then when it was considered, the appearance of the most satisfactory instrument of objective imitation of reality. This mechanical conception of reality, without manual intervention of the artist, questioned the imitative function of painting.
This photographic series aims precisely to put these two techniques into dialogue in the dialogue. Painting as a means of transforming reality, and photography as a technique of mimicking reality. The photographs show the female body, one of the most iconographic themes in the history of art. But the fusion of the body with the black background, transforms its forms being imperceptible and sometimes even unpleasant.
